HR bodies flay Shiia books confiscation in Saudi Arabia By: Abdulali RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Society to Protect and Defend Human Rights in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday 13 December has severely condemned confiscation of Shiia books by Saudi authorities in Al-Ahsaa and Riyadh, urging all those, who work for freedom of expression, to raise voice of protest and exert pressure on Saudi government. According to details Saudi authorities on 28 November attacked one of Shiia libraries in Al-Mahdia area in Al-Ahsaa and confiscated a large number of religious and cultural books. Sources said that following the confiscation the authorities also arrested Al-Allamah Sheikh Abdelaziz Al-Jamiyah, Reda Al-Ghasham and Ali Ad-Dahnayn, and they are still in jail. Then on 12 December, the authorities penetrated ‘At-Torathiyah’ library in Ar-Rawda area, Riyadh and confiscated precious Shiia jurisprudence books charging the library that it publishes books of kofr (infidelity).
