Saudis renew allegiance to Imam Ali (p) on Eid Al-Ghadir By: Abdulali AL-QATEEF, Saudi Arabia: Eid Al-Ghadir, or the Feast of Ghadir, was celebrated in eastern parts of Saudi Arabia with due respect, reverence and enthusiasm renewing oath of allegiance to Amir Al-Mo’minin, or the Master of Believers Al-Imam Ali b. Abi Talib (p).
Marking the occasion, grand festivals, poetry nights and galas were held in all mosques, husseiniyaat and ma’atm including husseiniyah Al-Hojjah (p) in Al-Mabraz, husseiniyah As-Sayyed Al-Khoei in Sanabas, husseiniyah An-Nasser in Sehat, Al-Imam Al-Baqir (p) Mosque in Safwa city, Ar-Rasol Al-Azam (p) Mosque in Al-Awamiyah, husseiniyah Bu-Khamsin in Al-Hafof city and husseiniyah Al-Mostapha (p), attended by flocks of cheerful and happy devotees with wearing new dresses and scented with nice fragrances. The festive programs began on the eve of Eid Al-Ghadir and culminated a day after the Eid. Buildings and streets were beautifully decorated with flowers, multicolored balloons, colored ribbons and lights while sweetmeats, cakes, juices and candies were distributed and feasts were arranged in connection with the auspicious occasion. Eulogists recited eulogies in praise of Al-Imam Ali (p).
Speakers threw light in detail on the importance of Eid Al-Ghadir which marks the day of 18 Zol-hijja when after completing his last pilgrimage (Hajjatol-Widaa), the holy Prophet (p) while leaving Mecca for Medina reached to a place called Ghadir Khum (which is close to today's Juhfah). In this place, this verse of holy Quran was revealed: "O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you don't do it, you have not delivered His message (at all); and Allah will protect you from the people ..." (Quran 5:67). Upon receiving the verse, the Prophet (P) stopped on that place (the pond of Khum) which was extremely hot. Then he sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah addressed to the pilgrims: "Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves?" People cried and answered: "Yes, O' Messenger of God." Then Prophet (P) held up the hand of Ali and said: "Whoever I am his master (Mawla), Ali is his master (Mawla). O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him." END |
