Saudi authorities hold Al-Qazwini from Holy Ka’abah compound By: Abdulali HOLY CITY OF MECCA, Saudi Arabia: In an unjustified move, Saudi religious police known as ‘organization of enjoining good and preventing from the forbidden’ arrested one of renowned scholars of Iraq Sayyed Abdul Hussein Al-Qazwini in the holy city of Mecca. Sayyed Al-Qazwini, 62, was seized on 13 January while he was worshipping and reciting duaa-e-Kumayl – a supplication which Al-Imam Ali (p) told one of his companions Kumayl b. Zyad An-Nakhi’i for recitation – in the Holy Ka’abah compound along with hundreds of pilgrims. His undue arrest provoked protests, but Sayyed Al-Qazwini urged all for calm. Later, he was taken to the offices of the police where he was kept in custody for two hours. Later, he was released without putting any charges against him or telling any grounds for the capture. Al-Qazwini’s arrest followed similar seizure of Sayyed Muhammad Al-Alawi in the holy city of Medina who was arrested some days before while he was performing rites of visiting infallible Aa’immah (p) from the progeny of holy Prophet (p), and his pious companions in the cemetery of Al-Baqee. In 1926, the Saudi government had bulldozed the holy shrines of holy Prophet (p)’s daughter, infallible descendants, wives and companions in the Cemetery of Al-Baqee and Al-Moalla in the holy cities of Medina and Mecca.
