According to press service representative Hussein Nosret, Husseinian, who was due to make a speech in Oregon, had been invited to speak by the World Affairs Council of Oregon. Husseinian was not told why permission had been refused Wednesday. Nosret said this was the third time the State Department had failed to authorize Hosseinian to travel outside New York City where the UN is headquartered. END 26 killed in west Sudan By: Special Reporter KHARTOUM, Sudan: Sudanese police said on Thursday that gunmen, apparently regional tribesmen, killed 26 villagers and torched three villages during a rampage in western Sudan. Talking to a news agency, Police spokesman Major General Sayyed al-Hussein said that the gunmen on Tuesday morning set fire to Debbah Taira, Um-Haraz al-Umdah and Um-Haraz al-Madrasah villages, all in West Darfur State.
