Eight martyred as Israeli forces sweep into Hebron

By: Ahmad Hammadi

HEBRON, West Bank: Israeli troops backed by dozens of tanks and helicopters swept into the divided West Bank city of Hebron early on Monday.

The forces opened fire with heavy machine guns, martyring at least eight people, witnesses and Palestinian security sources said.

According to Israel, troops arrested 17 people, including members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Arafat's Fatah group.

Monday's incursion came after Israel and the Palestinians agreed to an American proposal to end an Israeli blockade around Arafat's headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Pak worried over India's missile test

By: Salman Alvi

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has expressed worries on Monday over India's test of a supersonic cruise missile 'Brahmos' developed with Russia's cooperation.

Speaking at a news briefing, a Foreign Ministry spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan told journalists: "The introduction of this new weapon system will aggravate the existing imbalance in the region and further encourage India in its hegemonic designs."

The Brahmos missile, with a range of 280 km, was successfully tested on Sunday.

"It should also be a matter of deep concern that this cooperation is in clear violation of the international obligations of Russia as a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR)," the spokesman said.

Khan said that Pakistan opposed to an arms race in the region. However, it would take all necessary steps to ensure (a) strong defense capability to deter any aggressive designs against its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Fatimah al-Ma`sumah (as): A Role Model for Men and Women

By: Raza

In His Name, the Most High

The Ahlul Bayt DILP team would like to announce the addition of a new title:

Fatimah al-Ma`sumah (as): A Role Model for Men and Women

Al-Marji` Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Fadlullah

The aim of this work is to create an awareness of Fatimah "with admiration for her uncompromising protest and the stance which she took, and with heartfelt sympathy for the cruelest and most disloyal injustice, which she suffered. This cannot be achieved without learning, with full awareness, about the life of al-Zahra (as) and trying to implement it in their lives - as far as possible - so that they emerge from their continuous experience of her (as) as staunch followers and supporters. "

We are grateful to the copyright holder for kindly granting us permission to reproduce this title.

Best regards,

The Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project team
