Shimr lanty smacked so hard on her face and picked her up from Imam's (AS) body by holding her from her hair and killed Imam Hussain (AS) on front of her daughter. It was one of the griefs she has to bear from Yazid and his followers.

Bukhari calls Azadars to continue Azadari programs unabated

Salman Alvi

ISLAMABAD, April 29: S.A. Bokhari, Chairman TNFJ Political Cell has said that the Supreme Court by giving the decision in favour of the Presidential Referendum has proved that the TNFJ point of view was right. He stated this while addressing a meeting of office-bearers here on Monday. He said the TNFJ Cabinet had termed the Referendum a constitutional right of the President of Pakistan for continuation of his reforms and government steps, but we had demanded to avoid holding Referendum during the Ayyam-e-Aza. Now as the Referendum is being held before the Chehlum of Syed-us-Shuhada (A.S.), therefore the Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya, Pakistan, Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi has announced not to participate in Referendum as a mark of respect and dignity of the Ayyam-e-Aza, he added.

S.A. Bokhari said Referendum enjoys immense importance for the solidarity of democratic institutions and promotion of democracy that is why Article 48 was amended in 1985, and the Assemblies kept the amendments intact. Gen. Zia declared himself as an elected President through Referendum held on December 19, 1984 under the Presidential Order No. 11 of 1984 and it was declared as legal in Article 270 of the Constitution and later no Parliament felt the need to even discuss this document. He said it is surprising that this document is still an integral part of Pakistan's Constitution. He said most of the parties active in politics at present are the outcome of Gen. Zia's Referendum and they had been his ministers and advisers. He said as election of the President is held under the Constitution, which is commensurate to Members of the Parliament. At present there is no electoral college available and the Parliament does not exist, therefore there is no hurdle in holding the Presidential Referendum, he added.

He said Gen. Pervez Musharraf has given 7-point agenda for restoration of peace and solidarity of the country under which Anti-Terrorism Ordinance has been issued and terrorists have been banned. For effective implementation on this agenda, there is need for Pervez Musharraf to remain President but as we keep Azadari dearest of all other things, the TNFJ would not participate in Referendum in the holy Ayyam-e-Aza, he added. He made it clear that we consider that giving any call for strike or otherwise would not be in the interest of the nation and the country. He called upon the Azadars to continue their Azadari programmes unabated and remain vigilant so as to thwart every conspiracy against the nation and the country through mutual unity and brotherhood.
