BEIRUT, Lebanon: Ashoora (10 Muharram ul Haram) was observed on Sunday in Lebanon with deep reverence to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussein (AS), grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH & HP).
Mourners, wearing black dresses, marched through Lebanon's cities. They performed matam (beating chests) and qama zani (cutting their foreheads) to pay rich homage to the martyrs of Karbala. KABUL, Afghanistan: Afghans on Sunday observed Ashoora while paying homage to the grandson of holy prophet, Hazrat Imam Aali Muqaam Hussain ibne Ali (A.S.) and his die-hard companions. On this sad occasion, majalis-e-aza were held and processions were taken out. The participants, chanting "Ya Hussain, Ya Hussain", were beating their chests. They also performed zanjeer zani. "Hussein died to protect truth and justice. He preferred martyrdom to living in shame," said Karzai at a mourning ceremony in Kabul. END Over 55 Azadars detained in Srinagar By: A. A. Rathor SRINAGAR, Held Kashmir: Indian authorities detained 55 Azadaran-e-Imam Hussain (mourners) who were taking out processions in Srinagar. Muharram processions have been banned in Indian occupied Kashmir. All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) condemned Indian authorities over this. According to reports, the police used batons and fire teargas shells in a bid to stop mourners. More than 55 people were arrested and lodged in the Kothibagh police station. END |
