Israel again bars UN probe in Jenin

By: Jafariyanews

UNITED NATIONS: Israel has again decided to bar a United Nations fact-finding team seeking to visit the Palestinian refugee camp in the West Bank town of Jenin.

Cabinet ministers said in a statement that Israel has raised a number of issues it feels must be addressed before there can be a fair review of what happened in Jenin.

According to the statement as long as Israeli conditions are not met there is no possibility the UN team could begin its work.

Palestinians say that Israeli forces carried out a massacre of hundreds of civilians in the Jenin camp. While Israel says only about 50 Palestinian fighters and civilians were killed in Jenin.

S. African Archbishop condemns Israeli 'apartheid'

By: Mohsin Hemani

South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu has accused Israel of practising apartheid in its policies towards the Palestinians. The Nobel peace laureate said he was "very deeply distressed" by a visit to the Holy Land, adding, "It reminded me so much of what happened to us black people in South Africa".

The Jewish lobby is powerful - very powerful. Well, so what?

In a speech in the United States, carried in the UK's Guardian newspaper, Archbishop Tutu said he saw "the humiliation of the Palestinians at checkpoints and roadblocks, suffering like us when young white police officers prevented us from moving about".
