Academics confer with Ayat Khamenei

TEHRAN, Iran: The Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatullah Ali Khamenei regretted over the backwardness of the country in the scientific domain and hoped the efforts of scientists and scholars will help filling the gaps in the scientific area.
Ayatullah Khamenei made his remarks Wednesday in a meeting with a group of academics and professors at universities and higher education centers that called on him to discuss a range of important issues.
“The government agencies should provide assistance to university circles to conduct research works,” the leader noted.
The academics called for further budget and facilities for the research organs and work at universities, and asked for government help to identify the root-causes of the cultural assault conducted by enemies.
