Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS)

By: Bintul Huda

The 5th descendant of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (Pbuh&hp), Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS), the son of Hazrat Imam Zain-ul-Abedeen bin al Hussain (AS) and Hazrat Fatima Umm-e-Abdallah, the daughter of Imam Hassan bin Ali ibne Abi Talib (AS) was born in Madina al Munawwara on the 1st day of Rajab in 57 A.H.

Imam Baqir (AS) was present in Karbala at the time of the gruesome tragedy of the wholesale massacre of his grand father Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

He (AS), like the other Imams (AS), in knowledge and science had no equal. He was given the title of al-Baqir because he ripped open knowledge, knew its fine subtleties and expanded it. Great-learned men gained benefit from his knowledge and science and used to ask him to solve their problems.

One could undoubtedly realize the greatness of the Imam (AS), and his high status in the world of Islam, through observing the special attention the Prophet of Allah Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (Pbuh&hp) lavished on him. He (Pbuh&hp) cherished him, chose his name and nickname, and sent his greetings to him through one of his great companions Hazrat Jabir Bin Abdullah Ansari (RA), despite the time gap that separated the Prophet (Pbuh&hp) from his great grandson Imam Baqir (AS).

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (As) was martyred at the age of 57 years. His Holy grave is in the cemetery of al-Baqee in Madina, the city of the Apostle (peace of Allah be upon Him & His progeny) alongside the graves of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Zaynul Abidin (AS).

Muntakheb Ul  Aqwaal
"Knowledge is better than wealth because it protects you while you have to guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you." MORE..
(Hazrat Ali Ibne Abi Talib (A.S)
