Ashura marked in Turkey, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Bahrain, Saudi

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Millions of black-clad devotees and mourners of
Al-Imam Al-Hussein, some beating their chests and others slashing
their heads with blades, on Thursday December 16 commemorated Ashura –
the darkest day of universal history – when 14 centuries ago Al-Imam
Hussein ibn Ali (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S), was slaughtred
brutally in the burning desert of Karbala.
