By: Mehboob Khan

KARGIL-LADAKH: Despite chilling cold and heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of mourners participated in the processions of Chelum-E-Hussaini at Kargil. On 6th February Chelum-E-Hussaini was observed with great religious fervor and mourning to commemorate the 40th day after the Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain A.S. the Grandson of the last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa (PBUH).

On this occasion a number of mourning assemblies were held at all Imam Barraghas of Kargil district and nearly two-dozen mourning processions were carried out from Kargil Town and nearby villages. The processions passing through main Bazar Kargil via Islamia School Kargil, with mourners beating their chests, doing Zangirzani, and reciting Nuhas, approached towards Qatilgha Kargil.

The processions were concluded at Qatilgha, where Ziarat-e-Arbayein was performed by Imam Jumaa Wal Jamaat Hujatul-Islam Sheikh Mussa Sharifee. Earlier the religious scholars threw light on the philosophy of Aashura and appealed to the people to follow the teachings of Imam Hussain A.S. and prayed for peace, brotherhood and harmony in the country as well as in world.
