Saudi authorities reopen Khobar sealed Shiite mosques

By: Abdulali

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Saudi authorities have permitted reopening of three Shiite mosques in the city of Khobar wherein offering prayer was banned since last three years.

The decision came after a delegation of Shiite elite met with the vice prince of eastern province on Monday July 18.

Sayyed Hashim as-Sayed Ali An-Nasser, Sheikh Abbas Al-Mazani and Sayed Mohamed Baqer An-Nasser led prayers in the three mosques situated in north Khobar, Ath-Thaqabah and Hayi Al-Jassar respectively.

The mosques were sealed under the pretext that they were established without an official license.

The mosques were serving 20 thousand Shiite citizens in the governorate.

Few months back, the authorities had allowed reopening of several mosques and husseiniyahs in Al-Hassa that were sealed since five years.
