By: Nizam Hussain

SRINAGAR, Held Kashmir: Students in the Indian-held Jammu and Kashmir demanded in a protest rally here revocation of a ban, imposed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on religious processions made during the Islamic month of Muharram, ANI reported.

Tanveer Hussain Khan, one of the protestors, said the community was being deprived of their religious rights because of the ban.

"Today we have gathered here to appeal to the Chief Minister to revoke the ban that has been imposed on the procession that we have taken from the streets of Lal Chowk during the eighth and tenth days of the holy month of Muharram for the last four or five years," he said.

"We should be allowed to spread the message throughout the country and Kashmir through our tribute procession on the eighth and tenth days of the month of Muharram," he added.
