Mourning processions descending at Karbala shrines

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: From the dawn of the first day of
Moharram (27 Nov), the month in which the grandson of Prophet Muhammad
(s), Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS), was slaughtered unjustly along with his
72 near and dear ones in the scorching desert of Kerbala some 1400
years ago, mourning processions started descending in the holy
compound of the Husseini shrine.
Shopping malls have raised black flags to declare state of mourning
and grief marking the Ashuraiya days.
Meanwhile, Karbala police information chief told that more than 14
thousand police personnel will take part in security plan designed for
protection of pilgrims of Zyarah Ashura.
