Saudi Shiites flay irresponsible remarks on their national affiliation

By: Abdulali

Al-QATIF, Saudi Arabia: Rasid news reported that Shiite clerics or the Shiia Olemaa in Saudi Arabia denounced the "irresponsible" provocative remarks in the Prophet's Mosque by Sheikh Abdurrahman Huthaifi in which he attacked the Shiites against Awamiya events.

According to the report Huthaifi attacked Shiite citizens during a Friday sermon, and implicitly stated withdrawing the Saudi nationality and deporting the indigenous Shiites to Iraq.

Thirty-seven Shiite clerics signed a statement entitled "No to Sedition" denouncing the Huthaifi announcement that stabbed the Shia faith and doubted their national affiliation.

The signatories also expressed their disbelief at the authority’s silence about such type of inflammatory speeches without ensuring non-recurrence.

The statement exposed the contents of Huthaifi’s announcement that jeopardizes the unity of the country leaving it at stake in a time when the whole nation experiences sharp and dangerous turns.

The statement warned about the dangers of sectarian charging and that this could "push matters to be beyond the control of the pundits and people of wisdom, and the fear of ending up with austere consequences."

Over the last weeks, the Saudi media held a continual campaign against its Shiite citizens as described by some Shiite personnel alongside the backdrop of a clash between residents and police after the arrest of two elderly men.
