Najaf supreme religious authority condemns harm to Prophet (s) sanctity, demands UN role

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Al-Marje Al-Aala in the holy city of
Najaf, home to the holy shrine of Amir ul Mominin Al-Imam Ali bin Abi
Talib (AS), or Grand Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Al-Husseini As-Sistani has
strongly condemned what appeared in the blasphemous American film.
The marjaiyah flayed the film describing it contrary and far from
truth which harms the dignity and sanctity of chief of Prophets
Prophet Muhammad (s).
In a sermon, holy Karbala representative of Ayatullah Sistani, Sheikh
Abdel Mehdi Al-Karbalayi, said al-Marjaiyah Al-Olyaa or the supreme
religious authority as well as the rest of Ayaat strongly condemn the
blasphemous film.
He further said that freedom of expression does not justify offending
religious symbols and even those countries that pay lip service to
these principles have taken measures and sanctions against those who
harm religious symbols sanctity. He demanded from the UN to define law
that criminalizes these kinds of deeds.
