Husseini processions flock to Karbala shrines

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Arbaeeniyatol Imam al-Hussein
commemoration that began on 17 Safar, the second lunar month, will
reach on its peak on Safar 20 Thursday in the holy city of Karbala.
Since dawn on Safar 17 Monday, thousands of husseini mawakeb have been
marching towards the holy shrines of Al-Imam Abi Abdellah Al-Hussein
(AS) and his brother and chief of his army Abo’l Fadhl Al-Abbas (AS).
They enter the husseini shrine from Baab Al-Qiblah and after touching
through its compound they step out to go into Abbasi shrine from Baab
Al-Imam Al-Hasan (AS) while beating their chests to signify their
grief on the brutal slaughter of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS) in the
scorching desert of Karbala some 1400 years ago at the hands of Yazidi
forces.
