More than 15 million mourners arrive at Karbala for Arbaeeniyah

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Director of Information for holy Karbala governorate Salem Az-Zobeydi has told that number of Arbaeen pilgrims that have stepped into this holy city till to-date (Tuesday January 1) from 130 states has reached to an estimated fifteen million people.

Arbaeen or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (s), which is marked on Safar 20 falls this year in Iraq on Thursday January 3 when the commemoration will be on its peak.

While Diwaniyah police chief Abdel Jalil Al-Assadi announced that the governorate has received six million pilgrims from Al-Basra, Zeeqar, Al-Mothannah, Wasset and Messan governorates, going towards Karbala for Arbainiyah during the last two weeks
