Statement issued by Ayat Seestani’s Qom office

HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: The office of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali As-Seestani in the holy city of Qom issued a statement on Monday voicing concerns over serious threats against the holy shrines as well as the lives of the great religious authorities (Maraje Uzzam) in Iraq's holy city of Najaf.

According to the statement although the Iraqis, after the hardship that Iraq has gone through, had been cheerful and happy over the end of the dictator regime, anarchy hit the holy city soon after the fall of dictator.

The statement held coalition forces responsible for threats against the holy city of Najaf and the lives of the great religious authorities plus the security of Iraq's Islamic seminaries.

“We urge all Arab and Islamic country and international organizations, and all believers to accept the responsibility to thwart the threat being faced by the Islamic Seminary of the holy city of Najaf,” the statement concluded.
