“Allah” inscribed tile, amulet found during Ayodhya dig By: Irfan Malik AYODHYA, India: The archaeological survey team has discovered a piece of green tile with the inscription of word “Allah” in trench number J-6 during excavation at the demolished Babri Mosque site in Ayodhya, said reports on Wednesday. Indian court has ordered the excavation of the site to find out the truth of Hindus’ claim that the 16th century Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, was built on a Hindu temple. Hardline Hindus tore down the Mosque in 1992. The word “Allah” was inscribed in Urdu. An amulet is also found during the digging. After weekly break Monday, the excavation work was resumed and digging was undertaken in six trenches. END |
