Qom Seminary stresses end to war, shield for holy sites

HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: Islamic Seminary of Qom (Hawzah Ilmiyah Qom)’s Association of Lecturers and Researchers has called for an immediate end to the US-led aggression on Iraq terming the war a “violation of UN charter.”

The Association said war must be stopped in order to shield Iraqis from mass massacre and the revered, historical, cultural and scientific monuments of Iraq’s holy cities: Najaf Al-Ashraf and Karbala Moalla from destruction.

“The United Nations charter was written to secure international peace and security and to encourage friendly ties between nations based on respect for the principles of equality and self-rule,” said the Association adding, “The US-led attack on Iraq is not in compliance with these aims rather violates them.”
