Gaza protest demands release of more Pals prisoners

JERUSALEM: Thousands of Palestinians took to streets of Gaza city on Friday during a protest march to demand the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails and detention centers.

Waving flags, the protestors chanted Islamic slogans.

Meanwhile, Israeli public radio reported that Israel freed Friday 76 Palestinian detainees whose release had been delayed after a pair of suicide bombings earlier this week. The prisoners boarded a bus that headed for four Israeli checkpoints in the West Bank and one in Gaza.

Separately, a meeting between the Israeli and Palestinian security chiefs on an Israeli troop pullback from additional West Bank towns wrapped up inconclusively.
