Ayat Hassan Ash-Shirazi martyrdom anniversary observed By: Sultan Ahmed
DAMASCUS, Syria: The twenty-fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of Islamic thinker Ayatullah Sayyid Hassan Al-Husseini Ash-Shirazi was observed in Iraq and Syria. In Syria, a commemorative program was held at Hawzah Ilmiyah Az-Zaynabiyah on Friday, August 15, Jamadi-ol-Akher 16 attended by large number of people besides religious scholars and students. The program after its opening with recitation of Quranic verses was addressed by Allamah Sheikh Nasser Al-Asadi and Hujjatul Islam Sheikh Hassan As-Saffar who threw light on different aspects of the late Ayatullah’s life during which he rendered services for Islam in different parts of the world including Africa. Dinner was served at the end of the program. At-Tajammo Al-Islami Al-Watani organized a conference in the holy city of Karbala in connection with the anniversary. Allamah Sayyid Jafar Ash-Shirazi, Dr. Mohsin Baqer Al-Qazvini Al-Mousawi and Sayyid Ali Al-Husseini addressed. Ayatullah Ash-Shirazi (late) was born in the holy city of Najaf, later he migrated to the holy city of Karbala with his father. In late 60s, he migrated from Iraq to Lebanon following his release from prison and bearing torment. He compiled a number of books. END |
