‘Hand over Babri Mosque site to Hindus’ - new formula put up By: Irfan Malik NEW DELHI, India: Aimed at resolving the Ayodhya Mosque dispute, All India United Muslim Morcha has put up a formula to Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi as well as to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). Talking to reporters Saturday, Morcha chairman Dr Ijaz Ali said that the seer had reacted positively to the proposal which involved handing over of the disputed site at Ayodhya to the Hindus for construction of a Ram temple there. In return, an amendment should be made in Article 341 of the Constitution to treat Muslim Dalits on par with Hindu Dalits for availing all benefits of reservation. The 16th century Babri Mosque in Ayodhya was demolished by hardline Hindus in the late last century claiming that it was built on their temple. Then on Indian court orders, a team of archeology experts worked at the site and concluded that there were no signs found of any evidence of any Hindu temple under the mosque. END |
