Ayat Baqer Al-Hakim martyred in Najaf By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Baqer Al-Hakim, head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), has been martyred in Friday's car bomb in the central holy city of Najaf. The bombing which left about 9-dozen people martyred took place just after Friday prayers, according to an official of the SCIRI Adil Abdul Mahdi. Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Baqer Al-Hakim was the son of eminent Marje Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Mohsin Al-Hakim (late) who possessed a lofty status in the Shiite world. Several figures of Al-Hakim family have already been martyred. Some days back, an assassination attempt against Ayatullah Al-Hakim’s uncle Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Saeed Al-Hakim left three of his bodyguards martyred in the holy city of Najaf. END |
