Israeli PM India visit could stimulate tensions in South Asia By: Irfan Malik NEW DELHI, India: An approaching visit of India by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and New Delhi's plans of purchasing military hardware from the Zionist state could deteriorate tensions between South Asian arch-rivals, India and Pakistan. Palestinian President Yasser Arafat remarked this in an interview to an Indian daily newspaper. He said Sharon couldn’t offer anything he will only escalate the situation and war between Islamabad and New Delhi. The visit, beginning on September 9, is the first by an Israeli head of government since full-fledged diplomatic relations were established in 1992 between the two countries. END |
