Ayat Al-Ehqaqi laid to rest in Karbala

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Kuwait's Ayatullah Al-Merza Abdur Rasul Al-Ehqaqi was buried next to the holy shrine of Prophet Muhammad (p)’s grandson Imam Al-Hussein (p) in the holy city of Karbala according to his will.

The 75-year-old Al-Ehqaqi died at a London hospital on Wednesday while undergoing treatment. On Thursday, November 27, he was transported to Kuwait where his funeral prayer led by his son Al-Merza Abdullah Al-Ehqaqi was offered before heading to Iraq.

Hosts of mourners from Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia left for the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala on Friday to attend his burial. They traveled the 500 kilometers (310 miles) from Kuwait in a convoy of more than 15 buses and dozens of vans.
