OIC hails Libya move

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: The Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference, the OIC, welcomed on Tuesday Libya's decision to eliminate mass destruction weapons and to get rid off all equipments that might lead to the manufacturing of such arms.

A statement issued to the press in Jeddah by its Secretariat General on behalf of OIC states said the OIC also welcomed the opening of the Libyan nuclear facilities for inspections.

“The Libyan step is in harmony with the decision of the OIC to abandon weapons of mass destruction and to make Africa and the Middle East free of this type of weapons,” said the statement hoping that this would lead to the opening of a new chapter in mutual cooperation and confidence between Libya and the West in general and the United States in particular.
