Iraqis observe Day of Demolition of Baqi

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Like other global parts, the Day of Demolition of Baqi Cemetery was observed in Iraq with reverence on 8th day of Shaval.

Marking the occasion, majalis azaiyah were held at holy shrines where multitudes of mourners extended their condolences to the holy family of Prophet (peace of Allah be on him & his pure progeny) on the demolition of shrines of his beloved daughter As-Sayedah Fatimah Zahraa (peace of Allah be on her) and A’immah Huda (peace of Allah be on them) from her progeny, housed in Cemetery of Baqi in the holy city of Medinah, Saudi Arabia.

Majalis were also held at the offices of Ayaat. Sayed Jafar Al-Hashemi addressed a majlis at the office of Ayatullah Sadeq Shirazi in the holy city of Karbala and focused his speech on the Quranic verse “They want to extinguish the light of Allah by their mouths…”

He said who are those - the light of Allah and who wants to extinguish it. He said those who demolished the shrines of A’immah (peace of Allah be on them) in 1926 even wanted to flatten the holy shrine of the Last Prophet, Prophet Muhammad (peace of Allah be on him & his pure progeny) but fearing Muslims’ anger caused because of demolition of Baqi they did not do so.
