Jordan conference discusses role of Muslim scholars By: Sultan Ahmed AMMAN, Jordan: A conference under the theme ‘Scholars and Their Role in the Awakening of the Ummah’ wrapped up here, reports said Monday. Muslim scholars and intellectuals from Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon attended the conference convened by Jordanian Center for Studies and Statistics. Among the topics lined up for discussion during the three days of deliberations were sectarian fanaticism, religious bigotry and extremism and its impact on the Ummah as well as the pillars and conditions for issuing religious edicts, or Fatawa.
