Clerics in Iran say coop with US forces illegal By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: Great religious men in Iran have said the presence of foreign forces in the region is not in the welfare of Muslims, issuing verdicts that extending support to these forces is haram (islamically illegal). Outlining the duty of Islamic states when the clouds of US war on Iraq are being hovering, Grand Ayatullah Makarem Shirazi said that foreign forces buildup in the region is against Muslims. The grand Ayatullah urged the regional countries to help each other in kicking out these forces. One of great religious scholars in the holy city of Qom, Muhammad Taqi Fadhel, said that Muslims are duty bound to adopt joint stance in the context of anticipated US strikes against Iraq. END |
