Ayat Sadr’s martyrdom anniversary marked in Denmark By: Raza Ali COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Marking the fourth martyrdom anniversary of Grand Ayatullah As-Sayyid Muhammad Sadiq As-Sadr, a mourning program was held in Copenhagen on Sunday, January 5. Ansar-ush-Shaheed As-Sayyid Muhammad As-Sadr organized the commemoration gathering at Jafri Center in Copenhagen. A large number of people attended the program, which began at 7:00 PM with the recitation of Holy Quran. Renowned religious and scholarly figures highlighted the life of Grand Ayatullah and lauded his services rendered in the path of Islam while addressing the gathering. Meanwhile, some of Grand Ayatullah’s books, written works and photographs were also exhibited during the program. February 19, 1999 was a sad day for the family and the Muslim world when Grand Ayatullah Muhammad Sadiq Al-Sadr, along with two of his sons, 34-year-old Mustafa and his younger brother Mu'ammal were murdered in Iraq. Earlier, famous philosopher and writer of dozens of books including “Iqtesadona” and “Al-Bank Al-Islami” Grand Ayatullah Baqir As-Sadr and his sister Bintul Huda were martyred in Iraq. The late Grand Ayatollah Sadiq As-Sadr anticipated an attack on him yet he persisted in leading the Friday prayers at the historical Al-Kufa mosque, which could accommodate 100 to 120 thousand people. He wore his funeral shroud when giving those sermons, preparing for death at any moment. END |
