Babri Mosque case: India opposition to protest By: Irfan Malik NEW DELHI, India: As Indian Central Bureau of Investigation withdrew involvement charges in pulling down the Babri Mosque against the ruling BJP leaders, the country’s opposition has decided to protest in the parliament against the move. According to reports Monday the decision was taken in a meeting at the residence of leader of the main opposition party Congress, Sonya Gandhi. All opposition parties’ leaders attended the meeting. ICBI extracted the charges against eight BJP leaders including the Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani and the Minister for Human Resource Murli Manohar Joshi in the Babri Mosque case. In 1992, the 16th century historic mosque in Ayodhiyah was destroyed by thousands of hardline Hindus in a campaign led by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s ruling Hindu nationalist BJP party.
