Protests erupt as police holds Kashmiri leader; 15 martyred By: A. A. Rathor
SRINAGAR, Held Kashmir: Kashmiris on Thursday took to the streets of the summer capital Srinagar protesting against the detention of chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yassin Malek and demanding his immediate release. Armed Indian police fired dozens of tear smoke shells to disperse the demonstration. Yassin Malek was arrested earlier in the day by Indian police along with his two colleagues Javed Mir and Noor Muhammad Kelval near Kokernag village, south of Srinagar hours after he launched a signature campaign to determine whether Kashmiris want to be included in talks on the future of Kashmir. Meanwhile, Indian troops martyred 15 Mujahideen in the occupied-Kashmir on Wednesday night in separate incidents of brutalities. END |
