Imam Askary (a)’ martyrdom commemorated in Samra

SAMRA, Iraq: Like other parts of the globe, martyrdom anniversary of holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s 11th infallible successor Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Askary (AS) was commemorated in Samra, Iraq, on Raby-ul-Awwal 8.
Samra is home to the holy mausoleum of Al-Imam Al-Askary (AS) and his father Al-Imam Ali An-Naqy (AS).
Various mawakib azaiyah, or mourning groups, from different cities and town of the country arrived here to mark the occasion carrying standards. The mourners performed chest pounding, recited elegies and thus extended their condolences to Al-Imam Al-Askary (AS)’s son Al-Imam Al-Hujjah Al-Mahdi Al-Muntazar (AS).
The mourning continued throughout the night. Meanwhile, meals were also served.
