Dozens killed in India as fire races through train By: Irfan Malik LUDHIYANAH, India: Blaze in a jam-packed passenger train in northern India left at least 38 people dead including 10 to 12 children on Thursday as many of them slept. The pre-dawn fire on the Frontier Mail, traveling from Bombay to the northern city of Amritsar, broke out just after the train left Ludhiyanah in the state of Punjab. Authorities said it is suspected to be either sparked from a short circuit or a lit cigarette that started the fire. END |
