Prophet (s)’s martyrdom anniversary marked in Iraq

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: The martyrdom anniversary of the Seal of Prophets Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh&hp) was observed on Thursday with religious fervor and reverence in Iraq like other parts of the world with mourning multitudes descended on the holy cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kazmayn, Samra and Baghdad.

In the holy city of Najaf which is home to the holy mausoleum of Hazrat Imam Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (AS), son-in-law and cousin of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh&hp) and caliph of all Muslims, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children wearing black mourning dress staged mass mourning processions to mark the occasion.

Several Mawakib Azaiyah (mourning groups) from around the country also attended the processions.

Pounding their chests and heads, glorifying the prophet (pbuh&hp)'s holy family and reciting dirges, the mourning pilgrims then entered the Imam Ali (AS)’s holy shrine, and while shedding rivers of tears, wailing, crying and sobbing, offered their deep condolences to Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) on the martyrdom of Allah’s beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh&hp) and his son Hazrat Imam Hassan bin Ali (AS).
