Imam Hussein (a) summit ends in Damascus By: Sultan Ahmed DAMASCUS, Syria: Marking the occasion of Arbaeen, a summit on Hazrat Imam Hussein bin Ali (AS) wrapped up in Damascus on Monday. Renowned figures from Palestine, Iran, Lebanon and Syria attended the summit held by Iranian Cultural Advisory in Damascus and Syrian Ministry of Endowments. Addressing the opening session of the summit, Endowment Minister underlining the life of Imam Hussein (AS) said the Imam (AS) is an incarnation of honor, magnanimity and valor, which he inherited from his grandfather Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW), his father Hazrat Imam Ali Al-Murtaza (AS) and his mother Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (SA). Demanding US forces immediate withdrawal from the holy land of Iraq, he said Syria is still committed with its stance regarding the support for Palestinian people and protection of Iraq’s unity. Chairman Islamic Culture and Relations Coordination Sheikh Mahmoud Mohamed Iraqi said in his address that the event of Ashoura is a beacon of light for freedom fighters and revolutions the world over. He said it was the blood of Imam Hussein (AS), his offspring and chosen companions, which saved Islam. In her speech, Professor Damascus University Majidah Hamoud threw light on the holy life of Hazrat Sayyeddah Zaynab (SA) who disseminated the message of Hussainiyat after her brother Imam Hussein (AS)’s martyrdom. Others who addressed the summit included Chairman writers association Ali Arsan, Iranian ambassador to Syria Hussein Sheikh Al-Islam and many others. END |
