Hawzaat Ilmiyah, Ayaat declare observance of Mourning Day By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani
HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: Top religious authorities, or Grand Ayaat, and Hawzaat Ilmiyah, or Religious Seminaries in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon have announced general Mourning Day on Wednesday, 7 May, 5 Rabiul Awwal to pay homage to a large number of Ulama-e-Din, or religious scholars, martyred at the hands of Saddam regime. Allamah Sayyid Jawwad Ash-Shahristani, representative of Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali As-Seestani in Iran, disclosed this. The announcement came following confirmation of the martyrdom of Ulama-e-din who were detained by Saddam regime and then were martyred brutally.
Reports said that at least 182 Shiia Ulama-e-din were martyred by Saddam regime. According to Allama Ash-Shahristani and Hadi Ansari, son of Ayatullah Ahmed Ansari, the Ulama martyred at the hands of Saddam included: Ayatullah Murtaza Al-Khalkhali, Ayatullah Sayyid Izzuddin Bahrul Uloom, Ayatullah Sayyid Jafar Bahrul Uloom, Ayatullah Sayyid Alauddin Bahrul Uloom, Ayatullah Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ansari Al-Qommi, Ayatullah Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Al-Jawaheri, Ayatullah Ahmed Ash-Shahroudi, Ayatullah Ahmed Ansari Al-Qommi, Ayatullah Sayyid Reza Mosawi and many others. On the Mourning Day, Majalis-e-Fateha and Majalis-e-Aza will be held at Mosques and Hussainiyyat including Azam Mosque adjacent to the holy Shrine of Hazrat Sayyidah Fatimah Al-Masoomah (SA) in the holy city of Qom, Arak Mosque in Tehran and office of Ayatullah Seestani in the holy city of Qom. Allama Ash-Shahristani and Hadi Ansari said classes in all Hawzaat Ilmiya Iraq, Iran, Kuwait and Lebanon will also remain off on the day and mourning programs will be organized there. END |
