Damascus mourns Amir-ul-Mominin (as)’s martyrdom anniversary By: Sultan Ahmed DAMASCUS, Syria: Marking the heartrending occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Amir-ul-Mominin Al-Imam Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (AS), mourning programs continued in Damascus which houses the holy shrine of Aqilah-e-Bani Hashim Sayyedah Zeineb (SA), daughter of Al-Imam Ali Al-Mortada (AS).
Black mourning banners inscribed with statements of condolence were hanged in the shrines of Sayyedah Zeineb (SA) and Sayyedah Roqayyah (SA) as well as in mosques, husseiniyaat and religious centers to mourn the occasion.
The Shrines were flocked with multitudes of mourners who gathered there to offer their condolences to the chaste members of the holy family of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on the martyrdom of the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet (SAW).
During majalis, speakers highlight the life of Commander of the Faithful (AS) in detail. A number of organizations arranged mawakib, or processions, which terminated at the holy shrines. Majalis and mawakib will conclude on 21 Ramadan – the martyrdom day of the Imam (AS). END |
