HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, number of devotees and visitors to the holy cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kazimain and Samara is mounting day by day. Special Quran ceremonies are held at the holy shrines of Al-Imam Ali (peace be on him) in the holy city of Najaf, at the shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein and Al-Abbas (peace be on them) in the holy city of Karbala, shrines of Al-Imam Musa bin Jafar Al-Kazim and Al-Imam Muhammad At-Taqi Al-Jawwad (peace be on them) in Kazimain known as Kazimiyah and at the shrines of Al-Imam Ali An-Naqi and Al-Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be on them) in Samara. Besides Quranic programs, special sessions of Adiyah (invocations) of the virtuous month of Ramadan reported by Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny) and his infallible descendants (peace be on them) are witnessed at the holy mausoleums as well as mosques and husseiniyat. The holy shrines are thronged day and night alike. It’s the first times in years that such magnificent ceremonies, banned in Saddam regime, are going on in the holy cities.
