Spanish diplomat, ten other killed in Baghdad By: Hamoud Kufi BAGHDAD, Iraq: Twin attacks in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad on Thursday claimed the lives of a Spanish diplomat and ten other people, reports said. The Spanish diplomat named as Jose Antonio Bernal Gomez posted to Baghdad was shot dead early Thursday while leaving his home in the capital suburb of Mansour. Spain is part of the US-led occupying coalition in Iraq. Separately, a car bomb attack on a police station in Baghdad's neighborhood AS-Sadr City previously called Saddam City left at least ten people dead including the bomber and three Iraqi police officers. Soon after the bombing, US military vehicles surrounded the police station and the charred wreckage of the mobile blown up in the attack. Police Lieutenant General Chamer al-Saadan said the blast took place after guards stopped the car packed with explosives at a checkpoint outside the station.
