US vetoing Israeli fence resolution draws Pals criticism By: Ahmad Hammadi WEST BANK: The Palestinian Authority on Wednesday has severely condemned United States for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution against Israel's controversial security fence, saying it gave a “green light” to carry on construction. The Palestinian-drafted resolution sought to bar Israel from extending a security barrier deep into the West Bank. The measure, which also would have denounced plans to build 600 new homes in Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories, won the support of 10 of the council's 15 members while four others abstained - Britain, Germany, Cameroon and Bulgaria. Voting in favor were China, France, Pakistan, Angola, Chile, Guinea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Syria. Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat said: “The Israelis will consider this veto as a green light to continue the construction of the wall and the settlements.” END Israel-US a threat to ‘the very survival’ of Muslims, OIC FMs
