Flocks descending at Mecca-Medina as Ramadan approaches By: Abdulali HOLY CITY OF MECCA, Saudi Arabia: Swarms of pilgrims and devotees continue descending at the holy cities of Mecca and Medina for performance of Umrah and Ziyaraat in connection with the oncoming holy month of Ramadan, the month of Allah. Holy city of Mecca houses holy Ka’abah, the birthplace of Imam Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (p), and demolished Cemetery of Mo’alla while the holy city of Medina is home to the holy shrine of Chief of Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (p) and demolished cemetery of Baqi where holy graves of Prophet (p)’s beloved daughter Fatimah Zahraa (p) and A’immah Ahlil Bayt (p) besides other holy figures of Islam are situated. According to reports number of pilgrims coming from the kingdom and across the world to these holy cities is increasing day by day with the holy Ramadan approaching, until by the end of the holy month it would get higher ten times. Saudi government has made special arrangements to facilitate the pilgrims. END |
