Iran's clergy assembly calls on Iraqis expel “armed robbers” By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani TEHRAN, Iran: Iran's leading clergy assembly - the Experts' Assembly - Monday while urging all Islamic governments and nations to reinforce their unity and solidarity has called on the Iraqi people to drive out the coalition forces which it branded “armed robbers”. Speaking at the inaugural session at the 10th regular biannual meeting, the head of the Experts' Assembly Ayatullah Ali Meshkini said: “The Iraqi people should maintain their unity, administer the affairs of their country themselves and expel the armed robbers from their homeland in order to safeguard Islamic values.” “Muslims should not be dispersed and separated while all their enemies are united against Islam and talk about the crusades… The Assembly of Experts advises all Muslims to identify (their) friends and foes,” Ayatullah Meshkini said. The 86-member Assembly is constitutionally mandated to choose the Wali-e-Faqih (Supreme Leader) and monitor his performance besides giving recommendations to his office. END |
