Arbaeen marked in Imam Al-Hussein (p) city with millions flock By: Ismail Zabeeh
HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Despite March 2 brutal terror attacks on Ashoura processions in the holy city of Karbala and Kazemain that left 271 mourners martyred, several million mourners regardless of sect commemorated Arbaeen-e-Husseini on Sunday in the holy shrines city of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and Hazrat Al-Abbas (p). Thousands slashed open their heads with long sharp swords in front of Imam Hussein (p)’s mausoleum shedding their blood to pay rich homage to the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (p) who rendered an unparalleled and eternal sacrifice along with his 72 near and dear ones in the burning plain of Karbala for defense of Islam and survival of humanity achieving the title of “Zibh-e-Azeem”.
In a show of humbleness, many crawled through the streets of this holy city while others fell on their hands and knees as they approached the Shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and Hazrat Al-Abbas (p). Men carrying mock tents led women in chains to re-enact the gruesome tragedy of Karbala some 1,400 years ago. Inside the shrines, multitudes beat their chests and screamed ‘Ya Hussein, Ya Hussein’. They wept and sobbed holding their heads in their hands. END |
