Arba’yeen al-Husseini commemoration in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Mourning programs to mark Arba’yeen al-Imam al-Hussein (a.s.) were held in Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen with large number of Mo’mineen, followers of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) and religious scholars attended.

The two-day program (Safar 19-20, Saturday-Sunday) was opened with the recitation of holy Quranic verses and Zyarah of al-Imam al-Hussein (a.s.) followed by address of Hujjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Sheikh Abdelamir al-Khaffaji.

Addressing the first day majlis, al-Khaffaji spoke on the meaning and significance of Sha’eera (sign or emblem) making clear that Husseini rituals are also from Sha’a’er Allah. He threw light on the importance of visit to al-Imam al-Hussein (a.s.) in the light of sayings and acts of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) regarding reward for a visitor to the Chief of Martyrs (a.s.). He quoted a saying of al-Imam ar-Ridha (a.s.) that he who visits the grave of Abi Abdellah (a.s.), he is as he visits Allah on His Throne, and a saying of al-Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) that he who does not visits al-Imam al-Hussein (a.s.) is one who commits negligence to the rights of holy Prophet (s.a.w.).

Al-Khaffaji said all A’immah Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) encouraged for establishing Aza-il-Hussein (a.s.) as well as visit to him. He told that history shows that Motawakkil al-Abbasi cut the heads of those who visited the grave of the grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), and despite this al-Imam ar-Ridha (a.s.) encouraged his followers to visit Abil Ahrar (a.s.) in Karbala. He said the aim was just to keep the tragedy of Karbala alive in the hearts and conscience of people from generation to generation.

On the second day, the day of Arba’yeen, al-Khaffaji recited Zyarah al-Arba’yeen and described importance of the occasion of Arba’yeen. Others also addressed.

The program concluded with performing chest beating and lunch from the table of al-Imam al-Hussein (a.s.).
