Holy Prophet (s)’s Martyrdom Day marking across globe

WASHINGTON: The martyrdom anniversary of Khatmur Rosul, or the Seal of the Prophets Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be on him & his pure progeny) is being commemorated throughout world on Safar 28 with due fervor and reverence.

Safar 28 falls this year on 18 April in some countries while in some other parts of the globe on 19 April. Mourning multitudes gathered in the Saudi holy city of Medina – home to the holy mausoleum of holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny), Iraqi holy cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kazmayn and Samra, Iranian holy cities of Mash’had and Qom and Syrian holy city of Damascus to observe the occasion.

In the holy city of Najaf, US-wanted Moqtada As-Sadr has declared a two-day truce. His spokesman Qays Al-Khazali said Sunday at a news conference that Sadr's Mehdi Army militia would halt military operations in and around Najaf during commemorations for the anniversary of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny)'s martyrdom. These take place Monday and Tuesday.

The mourning programs began on the eve of the anniversary at mosques, hussainiyaat, imambargahs, azakhanas, maraje offices and Islamic centers across the globe with speakers highlighting the holy life of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny) in detail termed the following in his footsteps success in this world and the hereafter.

Pounding their chests and heads, glorifying the prophet (peace be on him & his pure progeny)'s holy family and reciting dirges, black-dressed mourners offered their deep condolences to Ahlul Bayt (peace be on them) on the martyrdom of Allah’s beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny).

In some parts of the world including Pakistan, Safar 28 is also being observed to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Holy Prophet’s grandson Hazrat Imam Hassan (peace be on him) besides Prophet (peace be on him & his pure progeny)’s martyrdom anniversary.

Mercy for the Worlds and Chief of the Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny) passed away on 28 Safar in the year 10 A.H. at the age of 63. Hazrat Ali Al-Murtaza (peace be on him) under took the washing and shrouding of his holy body and performed funeral prayer.
