Ayat Modarresi efforts to quell crisis in holy cities By: Al-hodaonline HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Ayatullah As-Sayyid Muhammad Taqi Al-Modarresi sent a delegation to Baghdad for talks with officials to quell ongoing crisis in the holy cities of Iraq – Najaf and Karbala. The two-member delegation, comprised of a foreign relations official in Al-Amal Al-Islami Organization Engineer Jafar Muhammad and an official from the Karbala office of Ayatullah Al-Modarresi Sheikh Qassem Ad-Difayi, met with the current chairman Governing Council Masoud Al-Barzani, representative of Moqtada As-Sadr Sheikh Nasser As-Sa’edi and Secretary General Islamic Scholars Association Sheikh Harith As-Zari. The delegation presented to Nasser As-Sa’edi a four-point statement from Ayatullah Taqi Al-Modarresi for the solution of ongoing stand-off between Moqtada As-Sadr and US troops. During meeting with the Secretary General Islamic Scholars Association, Sheikh Harith As-Zari thanked Ayatullah Al-Modarresi on solidarity with the residents of Falluja whereto the office of the Ayatullah sent aid. In an earlier statement, Ayatullah Modarresi termed violation of holy cities as a ‘great crime.’ END |
